A Meal Kit You Can Feel Good About!

ONE MOM, TWO DAUGHTERS, AND A MISSION TO SERVE

Lazy Apron was established not only to simplify home cooked, healthy dinners but also to serve as a sustainable vehicle for community contribution and youth development.

We are a family-run enterprise, built from the ground up right here in Somerset County! Our founder is a lifelong resident who is now raising two of her own daughters here locally. One a student at Branchburg Central, and the other a Freshman at Raritan Valley County College. Our commitment to our neighbors is personal and absolute.

This business was conceived after witnessing the immediate needs of our neighbors following recent economic disruptions, such as the government shutdown and limitations on SNAP benefits. This challenge presented an important opportunity: to build a business that not only fills a need for convenient, quality food but also teaches my daughters valuable, real-world business and ethical leadership skills.

Our Core Mission:

  • Empowering the Next Generation: To provide my daughters with hands-on experience in business operations, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

  • Sustained Local Giving: To guarantee support for our community by donating a fixed portion of our profits to the Somerset County Food Bank.

When you choose Lazy Apron, you are making an investment in a local family, fostering the development of our next generation of local business leaders, and directly contributing to essential local feeding programs.

The reality of food insecurity in our immediate area is startling. Bipartisan data shows that more than 12,000 children in Somerset County live in food-insecure households, meaning they lack consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life.

While Thanksgiving is a time for celebration, it is also a time when the gap between those who have enough and those who do not becomes most painful. Recent economic shifts and challenges, such as the temporary limitations on federal assistance programs, and the abundance of furloughed and unemployed adults have only deepened this local and nationwide crisis.
